Five hundred years from now, it may be possible to describe the current conflicts which threaten the safety and wellbeing of billions as the “growing pains” of a civilization in search of new energy sources.

Nevermind the Middle East, for a minute. I just heard the anchor of TVE’s Telediario overnight news report say that over 6,000 coal miners died on the job last year in China.

At least 59 died in an explosion last night.
