My name is Jos\u00e9. I build complicated things for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.josemarquez.com\/etc\/2019\/11\/24\/playhouse\/\">fun,<\/a> for <a href=\"https:\/\/josemarquez.com\/isa-in-still-frames\/isa-in-stills.html\">companies<\/a> and for <a href=\"http:\/\/sandwich.vision\">the future<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I was born in Havana and raised in New York City. I studied at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.regis.org\">Regis High School<\/a> and Williams College.<\/p>\n<p>In San Francisco and Los Angeles, I&#8217;ve worked in education, public media, digital media and the arts.<\/p>\n<p>In a previous life at Telemundo &amp; NBCUniversal, \u00a0I made these movies:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/josemarquez.com\/isa-in-still-frames\/isa-in-stills.html\">ISA<\/a> (2014) is a weird after school special about a Mexican-American dreamer.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thewrap.com\/ana-maria-in-novela-land-review-edy-ganem-luis-guzman-elizabeth-pena\/\">Ana Maria in Novela Land<\/a> (2015) is a light comedy about a smart aleck who switches places with a telenovela villain. (On <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Ana-Maria-Novela-Land-Ganem\/dp\/B00XNQZX3M\">Amazon<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/josemarquez.com\/reversion-in-still-frames\/reversion-in-stills.html\">Reversion<\/a> (2015) is a potboiler about memory and money.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>With the help of wonderful friends, I have written a few <a href=\"http:\/\/press.uchicago.edu\/ucp\/books\/book\/chicago\/M\/bo3649927.html\">essays<\/a> and written-produced some <a href=\"http:\/\/www.npr.org\/sections\/codeswitch\/2014\/11\/04\/361205792\/la-chancla-flip-flops-as-a-tool-of-discipline\">videos<\/a>, made <a href=\"https:\/\/lux-front2-prd.collections.yale.edu\/view\/group\/91b04827-8354-4d9d-b808-b1f8fcfdca0b\">art<\/a> and played <a href=\"http:\/\/pepito.net\">music<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Our original story,\u00a0<em>Loops, <\/em>starring Vivica Fox and Teresa Ruiz was distributed by Audible.
