The excellent movie <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/m\/blame_it_on_fidel\/\">Blame it on Fidel<\/a> (2006) is set in 1970s France and shows a world cleft by the brutal monoliths of fascism and communism; a time when the third way, liberal democracy, was too often overshadowed. Most importantly, it presents this cataclysmic world through the eyes of a confident eight year-old girl; the kind of protagonist we seldom get. The drama is emotionally trying, the action very well-paced and the characters developed with great subtlety.
