So I wonder if  the average American \u2013\u00a0and, especially, this woman \u2013\u00a0knows how it would work? <\/p>\n<p>Because the part about cap and trade that I <em>do<\/em> understand is that a federal agency would give private companies money to develop new technologies. It&#8217;s a reward system for good capitalists. In short, cap and trade is as American as tax breaks. Or the aerospace industry.<\/p>\n<p>Knowing this makes me suspect that the woman holding the &#8220;unamerican cap and traitor&#8221; sign doesn&#8217;t really understand what cap and trade is. If she did, she might not think it&#8217;s unamerican. (Whether she would still endorse  &#8220;whiteface&#8221; on a multi-racial president is another story.)<\/p>\n<p>So maybe her sign is telling us \u2013\u00a0nay, imploring us: &#8220;Please write a catchy jingle about cap and trade that explains it to me.&#8221; A jingle every bit as effective as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=WHIo4VruGZY\">five-dollar footlong&#8217;s<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.josemarquez.com\/etc\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/09\/withsugarontop.jpg\" alt=\"withsugarontop\" title=\"withsugarontop\" width=\"480\" height=\"372\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1370\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This woman with a sign that turns &#8220;cap and trade&#8221; into &#8220;cap and traitor,&#8221; does she know what cap and trade is?
